Guest LeMaz Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 Hi all, only just joined and found the site by chance as I was looking for some information on aircon on Galaxys.. Seems like a very good site indeed. Straight to the point now: 1. My condenser was changed under warranty 4 months ago2. An alternative winding noise started to come from the engine area / front, 3 weeks ago, Ford said they could not find anything3. Noise still there last week so decided to stop aircon and see what happens: no noise anymore4. Called Ford on Monday morning and explained, they told me to bring it in when the noise starts again(!?)5. the same day in the evening, aircon dead, pipe blown and condenser failure.6. My warranty ran out 3 days ago Told Ford I am not prepared to pay simply because they told me to carry on driving the car and did not want to look at it straight away, they also did not find anything wrong three weeks ago (they had not checked the aircon at that time). Also, the condenser was changed 4 months ago, shouldn't it be under warranty? They have quoted Quote
johnb80 Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 I would write to Ford customer services and explain the situation and mention 'small claims court' and 'unfit for the purpose' that should do the trick. Legally an item has to be fit for the purpose, if the item has failed after only 4 months it could be poor manufacturing (in which case sue Ford) or poor fitting (in which case sue the garage). I would highlight the adverse publicity that theyre receiving by giving them this forum address and your message number etc. Who was the garage that did the work? Regards - John Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 Point (2) they could not find anything - presumably you took the car to them so the fault was present then. Warranty does not cover until the garage gets time to look at the fault, but until the fault occurred and this must have occurred when still in warranty period. Don't let them fob you off. Quote
Guest LeMaz Posted June 8, 2004 Report Posted June 8, 2004 Thanks for your replies. Garage is Sandicliffe FYI. Ford Warranty say they will pay 50% as a good will gesture but I still think (and your replies reinforce this) that I shall not be liable for any payment. I will keep you posted on this. johnb80 Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Clearly we must all AVOID SANDICLIFFE FORD. if SANDICLIFFE FORD treat customers like this then SANDICLIFFE FORD dont deserve to be in business. IF SANDICLIFFE FORD want this sort of publicity, they've got it. I personally would take SANDICLIFFE FORD to court and sue them :( Quote

HJT Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 If the fault occured and was notified inside the warranty period then it is definately covered. Johnb80 posting was an opinion which you can legally state. He didn't say they do treat customers like this he said IF they treat customers like this. It's a very fine line but Johnb80 stayed within it. Howard Quote
gazza007 Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Condenser should be covered under parts warranty.Basically you will have to get hard & speak to Ford Cust Services yourself.50% isn't good enough just push hard & I'm sure you will get results.Good Luck Quote

Howard I don't think that what johnB80 said was opinion; anyway, it is what the reader understands by what is written that's important, not the specific words used. If you lead people to think something damaging but which is not true, you might be in difficulty; you cannot hide behind 'ifs' and so on. I'm not suggesting that johnB80 said anything remotely objectionable or untrue. Anyway, who cares? We're not going to be sued. We can put almost anything we want in posts and not carry the can for it. Power (well, a bit) without responsibility; brilliant! B) Quote
Guest lawton Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 LeMaz - which branch of Sandicliffe was it. I have been struggling with the Market Harborough branch over my c/c recently. Quote
johnb80 Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 All of what I said is MY opinion. No matter who is at fault be it Sandicliffe OR Ford, Sandicliffe should support their customer and at the end of the day thye contact is between the customer and Sandicliffe in either event.Regards - JB Quote
